  7. This file contains information you need to install Card Inventory System/2,

  22. Card Inventory System/2 Description
  23. -----------------------------------
  24. The Card Inventory System/2 (CIS/2) is an OS/2 application aimed at
  25. assisting users in the protection of the valuable cards that they
  26. typically carry, use, or are otherwise financially or personally
  27. responsible.  It does this by providing:
  28.  
  29.    An easy way to record the cards of interest to the user,
  30.  
  31.    A simple procedure for noting where such cards are located, and
  32.  
  33.    An easy and systematic method that can be used in reporting their
  34.     loss should one or more cards become lost or stolen,
  35.  
  36. There are service companies to which a person may subscribe which, for
  37. a fee, will help protect that person's credit cards.  Should one or
  38. more of these cards become lost or stolen, the service company will
  39. contact the appropriate companies for the user.  The purpose of this
  40. program is to avoid the cost of such a service company, or at a
  41. minimum, supplement this service by giving a user better records about
  42. what cards they have and where these cards are located.

  44. In addition, this program allows the user to more easily keep his 
  45. credit card records current, and it can record valuable cards that
  46. cannot be handled by a card protection service company.
  47.  
  48. CIS/2 will provide essentially the same function as a service company
  49. with the exception that the user must make the telephone call to
  50. report a lost or stolen card.

  52. Card Inventory System/2 Registration
  53. ------------------------------------
  54.    This program is not FREEWARE.  Registration fee is $15 U.S. 
  55.    per copy.

  57.    To register your copy of Card Inventory System/2 and receive 
  58.    your Registration Key, order CIS/2 from RKE Consulting, Inc.,
  59.    or BMT Micro.

  78. Before You Install Card Inventory System/2
  79. ------------------------------------------
  80.    Software Requirements
  81.    ---------------------
  82.     IBM Operating System/2(*) (OS/2) Warp 3.x.

  84.    Hardware Requirements
  85.    ---------------------
  86.     -  A personal computer that runs OS/2 Warp 3.0          
  87.                                                                        
  88.     -  1 MB of fixed disk space above that required by OS/2

  91. Installing Card Inventory System/2
  92. ----------------------------------
  93.  
  94.     If you have received In CIS/2 on a diskette, skip to step 2.
  95.  
  96.     STEP 1: If you have down-loaded or received CIS/2 as a ZIP file,
  97.     you will need to use the PKZIP(r) software by Pkware, Inc. To
  98.     perform this step, do the following:
  99.  
  100.         A. Obtain a copy PKUNZIP.EXE to unpack the file.  This
  101.            program is readily available on most BBS's and FTP's 
  102.            sites.
  103.  
  104.         B. Make the directory containing the CIS2.ZIP file the
  105.            default directory.  At the OS/2 command prompt, enter the
  106.            command:
  107.  
  108.                    PKUNZIP CIS2nnna.ZIP
  109.  
  110.            Where "nnna" is a suffix.  (This suffix is associated with
  111.            the release of CIS/2.  The higher suffix being the later
  112.            release of the program.)
  113.  
  114.     STEP 2: If installing from diskette, place the distribution 
  115.     diskette in your diskette drive.
  116.  
  117.     STEP 3: At the OS/2 prompt, enter one of the following:
  118.  
  119.         A. If installing from diskette on drive A, enter:
  120.  
  121.                    A:\INSTALL
  122.  
  123.         B. If installing from diskette on drive B, enter:
  124.  
  125.                    B:\INSTALL
  126.   
  127.         C. If installing from a fixed disk (for example, the
  128.            directory where CIS2nnna.ZIP has been "unzipped"), 
  129.            enter the full path to the INSTALL.EXE program.
  130.  
  131.            To illustrate, if the CIS/2 package has been placed
  132.            in the "TEMP" directory on the "C:" drive, enter:
  133.  
  134.                    C:\TEMP\INSTALL
  135.  
  136.     STEP 4: Answer the installation program questions.
  137.  
  138.     STEP 5: When complete, the CIS/2 program icon will appear 
  139.     on your desktop.  (You may move it to any convenient place.)
  140.     Double-clicking the program icon will start CIS/2.  See the
  141.     CIS/2 help introduction, and specifically the section on
  142.     "Getting Started," to begin using CIS/2.

  145. Removing Card Inventory System/2
  146. --------------------------------
  147.     To remove the installation of CIS/2, do the following:
  148.  
  149.     STEP 1: Run the CIS/2 installation procedure and select:
  150.  
  151.         Delete the installed product and re-install
  152.  
  153.     STEP 2: After the deletion is complete, exit the install
  154.     procedure without doing the re-install.
  155.  
  156.     IMPORTANT NOTE:  At this point, the delete procedure has
  157.     removed the product, but it has not erased the databases.
  158.     Therefore, do not not perform the following step if you
  159.     plan to re-install CIS/2.
  160.  
  161.     If you do re-install CIS/2, you will need to re-perform 
  162.     the CIS/2 registration process.
  163.  
  164.     STEP 3: For a permanent removal of CIS/2, including all
  165.     the CIS/2 databases, erase all the remaining files in the 
  166.     CIS/2 directory and deleted the CIS/2 directory.
